SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The OYC has had Official confirmation as a member
of the Orakei Basin Advisory Committee

This is an advisory committee to the New Council, on priorities
of work to be done on and around the Orakei Basin.

John Robb has taken on the position as our club representative,
with the full support of the OYC committee.

This does give us a say in the Orakei Basin, and indications are
that we are being listened to.

To date the success of the position and John Robbs efforts
are seen, or now not seen, in the removal of the eyesore
sign. Well Done John.

Opening of the Orakei Basin Boardwalk stage one

The OYC was recently invited to the opening ceremony for the new boardwalk. Attending on behalf of the OYC was Commodore Greg & Vicky Stenbeck, Greg Paul and John Robb.

This gave us the opportunity to meet with the Chair and members of the New Orakei area Council Board, the Council Member for our district and the Super City Mayor. See photos.

Sufficient to say, that we established that the OYC is now considered a major "stakeholder" in the Orakei Basin, and that our comments and concerns have been accepted and included in the planning for the next stage of work on the Basin and particularly the car park area.

Auckland City Council - Orakei Basin Management Plan
